Useful information

Business Hour

The standard business hour is from 9 a.m to 6 p.m or around these hours. Banks are open from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Shopping malls are open from 10 a.m to 10 p.m, Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays from 2 p.m to 6 p.m. Pubs and restaurants have flexible hours. Some restaurants only open at lunch-time and others are open all day long.  There are also those, which remain open all night, even during the week. Please, get some information before!

Phone calls / Long-distance calls

Phone cards are sold in pubs and newsstands. For long-distance calls, it is necessary to dial zero + telephone provider number + city code before the telephone number. To make international calls, it is necessary to dial zero + telephone provider number + country code + city code before the telephone number.
São Paulo’s code (called DDD) is 11 (eleven). If you want to call another city located on São Paulo’s vicinity, which is also code 11, you have to dial the telephone provider number before. Please dial 102 for information about codes and telephone numbers. 

Tickets

The bookstores Fnac (Paulista and Pinheiros), Saraiva (Eldorado, Morumbi and Center Norte Malls) and Siciliano (Vila Olímpia) and AM PM stores sell tickets for dance shows, theater and concerts among others.

Municipal/State Holidays

The city of São Paulo has only two city holidays: January, 25th,  São Paulo’s anniversary and, July 9th which is a State holiday that celebrates the 1932’s Constitutional Revolution.

Time Zone

São Paulo has the same time zone as Brasília (less than three hours related to Greenwich). The daylight saving time begins in October and ends in February. In the daylight saving time the clocks are adjusted forward one hour.

24-hour services

In the non-stop city 24-hour services include much more than drugstores and locksmiths. The options are supermarkets, flower shops and even fitness centers and candy stores. Websites that you can look for:
