This major animation festival comes to its 16th edition
and counts on the exhibition of animations from several countries

BACKYARDIGANS
For children. For the first time in Brazil, the Backyardigans
group makes a short trip to São Paulo. The animated series
designed by graphical computer animation brings together Pablo
(blue penguin), Tyrone (orange moose), Uniqua (pink Uniqua), Tasha
(yellow hippopotamus) and Austin (purple kangaroo) that have lots
of fun in their world of imagination.

On July 30th, one of the icons amidst guitarists all
over the globe anchors in São Paulo with a totally renewed
performance. North-American Scott Henderson performs at Tom Jazz
and brings to the audience the best of his new eclectic sound,
a mixture of jazz fusion and blues-rock.
Henderson is known worldwide for his improvising skills.

DESENHOS [Leonilson’s drawings]
The exhibit, under the curatorship of Cadu Riccioppo,
brings a selection of Leonilson’s drawings, one of the
stars of the 80’s, with approximately 30 works from that
period between the 80’s and early 90’s.

EVOLUÇÃO DO ESPAÇO CÊNICO ATRAVÉS
DOS TEMPOS [The evolution of the scenic arts through time]
The exhibit brings a handful of information about the
architectonic structures used in the formation and evolution
of theaters around the world, besides promoting knowledge about
the scenic arts space to the laic public. The exhibit counts
on 25 maquette models indicative of several scenic space models
from Ancient Greece to nowadays, besides drawings and photographs.

The exhibit presents a selection of approximately 30
works of Brazilian artists from Pinacoteca’s collection

ESPAÇO [Third Place]
The collective exhibit provides continuity to the New
Curators’ project. For the exhibit, Wagner Rossi and Alexandre
Hipólito selected artists from Rio de Janeiro and Minas
Gerais with the purpose to unite names and works from both States,
without determining regional intricacies, but actually converging
styles and proposals for an apparently neutral third place.

MACHADO DE ASSIS
Honoring the one hundred years of the death of extraordinaire
Machado de Assis, the Portuguese Language Museum brings an interactive
exhibition about the writer. The showing is coordinated by Ana
Helena Curti, architecture by Pedro Mendes da Rocha, curatorship
by Cacá Machado and Vadim Nikitin and consultancy of José Miguel
Wisnik.

A MULHER DO TREM [The
woman on the train]
The spectacle is a French comedy written in the 19th Century and its scenery
is the living room of a Carioca middle class home by which all the typical
characters of that time’s drama go through: the dictator mother-in-law,
the scared and libertine father, the handsome man, the gullible girl, the drunk
friend and his wife who betrays and is betrayed, the luxury prostitute.

[Everyone has their problem]
In the script, the main character is a theater actor who, upon giving up the
opportunity of his presentation, starts to speak about his own life. The other
characters appear, all politically incorrect, commenting and criticizing, very
sarcastically, about various everyday life situations, ensuring the text’s
modern feel and causing immediate identification with the audience.

A play that tells the story of a band that is one-step
from stardom and shows how this fact influences their group relations
towards fame, the media and the fans. All the conflicts are filled with
Brazilian pop rock songs from the 80’s. In the repertoire, there
are pearls such as “Corações Psicodélicos”,
by Lobão, “Geração Coca-Cola”, by Legião
Urbana, “Esse tal de Roque Enrow”, by Rita Lee, and “Eu
Gosto É de Mulher”, by Ultraje a Rigor, amongst others.
